Peptide-based technology for inflammatory disease.

In collaboration with research teams at the University of Sydney, Proteios is engaged in research focused on the discovery and evaluation of novel drug candidates relevant to inflammatory disease.

Research Focus & Technology

The company’s work builds on academic research into intracellular human proteins involved in inflammatory pathways. The research has led to the identification and development of novel molecules which potently modulate inflammation in immune cells including macrophages, dendritic cells and neutrophils.

Proteios’ technology is supported by an international patent family covering key aspects of the active peptides and their applications to human diseases, providing a defensible foundation for the continued development and commercialisation of a drug development candidate.

Pipeline

Two focused programs.

RP23 is a platform technology for localised treatment of inflammatory diseases
RP23 development pipeline A timeline of seven stages. Psoriasis and atopic dermatitis, delivered topically to the skin, have completed discovery, in vivo work and formulation development. Inflammation in the lung, delivered by inhaler, has completed discovery and is in vivo, with formulation development underway. Pre-clinical Clinical Discovery in vivo Formulation development Phase 1 Phase 2 Phase 3 Market Topical Skin Psoriasis Atopic Dermatitis Inhaler Lung Inflammation in the lung (e.g. Interstitial lung disease – ILD) underway

RP23 pipeline by stage. Stages in order: Discovery, in vivo, Formulation development (these last two forming the pre-clinical phase), then Phase 1, Phase 2, Phase 3 and Market (the clinical phase).

  • Psoriasis — topical, skin. Completed Discovery, in vivo and Formulation development.
  • Atopic Dermatitis — topical, skin. Completed Discovery, in vivo and Formulation development.
  • Inflammation in the lung, for example Interstitial lung disease (ILD) — inhaler, lung. Completed Discovery and is currently in vivo, with Formulation development underway.

No programme has yet entered clinical phases.

Lead Program

Dermatological Inflammation (Psoriasis)

Proteios’ most advanced focus area is inflammatory skin disease, including conditions such as psoriasis, eczema and dermatitis. This work originates from university-based research into naturally occurring human peptides involved in inflammatory signalling.

Building on this research, a modified lead peptide has been developed and is supported by granted intellectual property, forming the basis of Proteios’ dermatology-led development program.

Pre-clinical research has supported further structured evaluation of this peptide-based approach within a dermatological context. Proteios is progressing its technology within a research and early-stage development framework, with current activities focused on understanding biological mechanisms, delivery considerations and safety-related characteristics appropriate to its stage of development.

Secondary Program

Respiratory Inflammation

In addition to its dermatology focus, Proteios is conducting early exploratory work to assess whether aspects of its technology platform may have applicability in respiratory inflammation.

This activity is at a preliminary research stage and is intended to inform future strategic decisions rather than represent an active development program. Any further progression will be contingent on scientific validation and alignment with the company’s core dermatology strategy.
